Sara Ruddock – Dance artist and choreographer working in performance, research and education, from Stockholm, based in London.
Active within dance and choreography since 2002; making work, performing and touring in Scandinavia and internationally, in collaborative projects with other artists and creating a number of solo works. Over the years developing an ever-unfolding artistic practice of research in and through dance and choreography. Currently spending time with vibrational practices, sonic and rhythmic utterances, forces of groove, voicing and listening bodies, irregularities and resistance.
– MFA, BA(Hons) – Educated mainly at DOCH, Stockholm University of The Arts, most recently at the Master Programme New Performative Practices, 2013. Currently a PhD candidate at Roehampton University, London.
As dancer/performer I have worked with a range of choreographers including Deborah Hay (USA) who has been a great influence on the way I practice choreography and performance. During 2018-20 I have been engaged in various projects, as performer and choreographer, in collaboration with Siobhan Davies Dance, and with other artists and choreographers, such as Stefan Jovanović, Julie Cunningham and Pepa Ubera, in projects supported by Sadler’s Wells and Nottdance Festival/Dance4.
As educator, working as Lecturer of Contemporary Dance for several years at DOCH – Stockholm University of the Arts, teaching at a number of colleges including the Royal Swedish Ballet School, and facilitating classes and workshops for students and professionals internationally. Over the last few years guest lecturing at Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music & Dance, and also facilitating classes at Independent Dance, London, at OpenClass/The Lodge Space, and sharing artistic research/practice at OPENLAB/ Chisenhale Dance Space.
